Development Bank of Kenya Ltd. is a banking company based out of Loita Street, Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya.

Responsibilities or duties

To manage the overall credit function of the bank. This entails the end-to-end credit operations and service delivery processes by establishing internal controls and processes for credit assessment, restructuring, monitoring and recovery.

  • Developing, reviewing and implementing policies, programmes and strategies for lending.
  • Compliance with the Lending policy of the Bank, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and reviewing standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinating preparation of credit proposals for consideration and approval.
  • Coordinating management of loans and advances portfolio.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the Bank’s loans and advances portfolio performance and revenue generation.
  • Coordinating processing of information and filing of periodic returns to the Central Bank of Kenya.
  • Managing the Bank’s equity investments.
  • Coordinating the preparation of management and statutory reports.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Registration with a recognized professional body (KIB, ICPAK, FMA, CRM, Diploma in Credit, or equivalent).
  • Leadership training from recognized institutions.
  • Excellent computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of banking processes.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Experience needed

  • At least twelve (12) years’ relevant experience, three (3) at Manager level or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience in collateral-based lending and portfolio monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and portfolio management.
  • Ability to manage delinquent accounts and minimize NPLs.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk governance.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated results in performance.
