Position Overview
Our client is seeking to recruit an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Head of Investment to lead the organization's investment function and drive sustainable portfolio growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing investment strategies, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, overseeing investment portfolios, conducting financial analysis and due diligence, and supporting business growth initiatives. The role requires a commercially astute professional with strong leadership capabilities, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record in investment management.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Develop and implement the organization's investment strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and growth plans.
- Identify, evaluate, and secure viable investment opportunities across various sectors and asset classes.
- Oversee and manage investment portfolios to maximize returns while maintaining appropriate risk levels.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend strategic adjustments where necessary.
- Track market trends, economic developments, risks, and emerging opportunities to support investment decision-making.
Financial Analysis & Due Diligence
- Conduct market research, industry assessments, financial analysis, and economic evaluations.
- Prepare investment proposals, feasibility studies, financial models, valuation reports, and business cases.
- Lead due diligence processes for prospective investments, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Assess financial statements, business models, and investment risks to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Provide strategic investment recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management & Capital Mobilization
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, financial institutions, regulators, and strategic partners.
- Support fundraising initiatives, capital mobilization efforts, and investor engagement programs.
- Represent the organization at investment forums, conferences, stakeholder meetings, and industry events.
- Develop strategic partnerships that contribute to portfolio growth and organizational objectives.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards, and internal investment policies.
- Develop and implement investment risk management frameworks and controls.
- Monitor and mitigate investment-related risks to safeguard organizational assets.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, operations, and commercial teams on investment-related transactions and initiatives.
Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the investment team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Establish performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the investment function.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present investment reports, portfolio performance updates, and strategic recommendations to executive management and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Investment Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's Degree and/or professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, CISI, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in investment management, corporate finance, financial analysis, private equity, asset management, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing investment portfolios, executing investment transactions, and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, valuation methodologies, and risk management principles.
