Job Purpose:

To manage the hospital's patient health information system, ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, confidentiality, and security of all medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and storage of patient medical records (both physical and electronic).
  • Ensure accurate and timely coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 standards.
  • Manage the retrieval and tracking of records for clinics, admissions, and audits.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all patient information in compliance with data protection laws.
  • Compile and submit routine health data reports to the hospital management and relevant government bodies (e.g., DHIS).
  • Supervise records clerks and manage workflows within the records department.
  • Participate in medical audits by providing necessary documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Health Records and Information Management.
  • Licensing: Must be registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a busy hospital setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of medical records management and coding systems.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in health information systems and MS Office.
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
