About the role
We are looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to own OHS compliance across Bolt's African markets and a set of designated satellite countries. You will be the regional expert: running audits, turning safety data into decisions, managing external partners, and making sure every Bolt team is equipped to stay safe.
This is a high-ownership role. You will work closely with Operations, People, Hardware Engineering, and senior leadership, and you will lead global safety training and awareness campaigns on top of your regional responsibilities.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure Bolt meets its legal OHS obligations across African markets, including risk assessments, mandatory training, and statutory documentation.
- Conduct regular audits across main and satellite markets; identify gaps and drive corrective actions to closure.
- Set up and oversee HSE Committees in all markets where local law requires them.
- Own the H&S data dashboard: collect, analyse, and present quarterly performance data to leadership.
- Develop, lead, and measure global OHS training and awareness campaigns.
- Support satellite market teams with compliance guidance, and manage external H&S consultants to ensure they deliver against their obligations.
- Lead incident and crisis investigations when they occur, and communicate findings clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the global SOP review cycle, keeping safety procedures current and consistent.
About you
- You hold a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, Risk Management, Compliance, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- You have a recognised professional qualification such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001 auditor certification, or equivalent.
- You have significant OHS experience, including hands-on compliance work in at least one specific market.
- You have a track record of running audits, managing documentation, and delivering safety training or communications campaigns.
- You are data fluent: you can build or maintain a dashboard, identify trends, and explain what the numbers mean to a non-technical audience.
- You communicate with confidence in English, whether writing a safety brief or presenting findings to senior leadership.
- You have experience managing or coordinating with external safety consultants.
Why you’ll love it here
- Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
- Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.
- Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
- Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
- Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
- Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.
