Background
A company is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Health & Safety Officer to promote health, safety, and environmental compliance across all departments and build a strong safety culture within the organization. As the company operates within a 24-hour production environment, the successful candidate should be willing and able to work flexible shifts, including day or night shifts, as required to support continuous operations and ensure consistent safety oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other applicable regulations.
- Coordinate statutory inspections, safety audits, and permits with the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS).
- Ensure environmental compliance and licensing with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
- Conduct risk assessments and implement hazard control measures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure proper issuance and compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct safety inductions, trainings, and safety talks.
- Maintain safety documentation and prepare statutory reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of Kenyan HSE laws and environmental regulations.
- Experience in steel manufacturing or heavy industry is an added advantage.
