Job Purpose

Ngobit Girls – Laikipia is seeking a dedicated, qualified, and passionate teacher to join its academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Home Science and/or another relevant subject, supporting learners' academic development, and contributing to a positive and disciplined school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective lessons in Home Science and other assigned subjects.
• Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching resources, assignments, and assessments.
• Use practical, learner-centred, and interactive teaching approaches.
• Conduct practical Home Science lessons and ensure appropriate use of equipment and materials.
• Assess learners through classwork, assignments, tests, practical activities, and examinations.
• Maintain accurate records of learners' academic performance and progress.
• Identify learners who require additional academic support and provide remedial lessons where necessary.
• Encourage learners to develop practical skills, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Maintain good classroom discipline and create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Prepare learners for relevant internal and external examinations.
• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to learners.
• Participate in staff meetings, school activities, examinations, and co-curricular programmes.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and the school administration.
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding learners' progress where required.
• Maintain and uphold the school's policies, values, and professional standards.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the school administration.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant teaching qualification from a recognized institution.
• Strong subject knowledge in Home Science and/or another teachable subject.
• Ability to teach effectively at the appropriate school level.
• Relevant teaching experience will be an added advantage.
• Good classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to conduct practical lessons effectively.
• Ability and willingness to provide remedial instruction.
