Responsibilities or duties

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in patient wards, offices, common areas, and isolation rooms in line with hospital policies.

Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control procedures, especially within a mental health care setting.

Handle cleaning chemicals, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.

Perform daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning schedules as assigned.

Properly collect, segregate, and dispose of waste in accordance with hospital and environmental guidelines.

Change bed linens, curtains, and other furnishings as per schedule or when required.

Promptly report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to the supervisor.

Observe patient dignity, confidentiality, and safety at all times.

Support emergency cleaning needs and assist during inspections and audits.

Work collaboratively with nursing, clinical, and maintenance teams to ensure a supportive healing environment.

Any other duty as may be assigned.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Knowledge of infection control, hygiene standards, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow instructions accurately.

Good communication skills and a compassionate, respectful attitude toward patients.

Physically fit

Experience needed

K.C.S.E certificate or equivalent qualification.

Certificate or training in housekeeping, hospitality

Prior experience in a hospital, mental health facility, or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
