About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HR Assistant to provide operational HR support across the business. The role is responsible for supporting the HR Manager in delivering effective people practices, ensuring compliance with employment policies, maintaining accurate HR records, supporting employee relations, and partnering with line managers to enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly payroll process by preparing accurate payroll inputs and assisting with payslip distribution.
  • Partner with line managers to address employee relations matters, provide HR guidance, and support the timely resolution of workplace issues.
  • Coordinate disciplinary and grievance processes, ensuring compliance with company policy and employment legislation.
  • Monitor probation periods, contract confirmations, renewals, and employee separation processes, ensuring all documentation and approvals are completed on time.
  • Coordinate performance appraisal processes and support managers in driving performance management initiatives.
  • Manage employee attendance and leave administration through the HRIS, providing regular reports and insights to management.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring all personnel files and HR documentation are complete, confidential, and up to date.
  • Draft HR correspondence including contract letters, confirmations, disciplinary letters, and other employee communications.
  • Support HR compliance by conducting routine branch visits, monitoring adherence to HR policies, and recommending improvements to HR processes.
  • Coordinate employee training activities, HRIS user support, and branch-based employee relations initiatives.
  • Support occupational health and safety initiatives, including coordination of medical examinations, reporting workplace injuries, and maintaining employee welfare records.
  • Prepare HR reports and people metrics to support decision-making and business planning.

What we're looking for:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field with CHRP as an added advantage
  • At least 2 years' experience in an HR generalist or HR administration role.
  • Good understanding of Kenyan labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience using HRIS and payroll systems is an added advantage.
  • Membership or progress toward certification with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) is desirable.
