Job Purpose
To oversee the delivery of effective HR services across the hospital, including talent acquisition, talent development, organizational development, employee relations, and HR operations, ensuring the hospital attracts, develops, and retains the right talent to achieve its objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement the annual HR business plan.
- Develop and oversee talent acquisition, development, management, and culture strategies.
- Stay updated on HR best practices and advise management and staff.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with hospital values, Kenyan labor laws, and best practices.
- Continuously review and improve HR policies and processes.
- Guide and coach line managers on HR matters.
- Conduct HR risk assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Provide expertise on organizational structures and job design.
- Ensure effective recruitment, training, and development.
- Lead performance management and present outcomes to senior management.
- Champion organizational culture transformation initiatives.
- Develop and implement reward and remuneration strategies.
- Prepare monthly pay change advisories for payroll updates.
- Oversee disciplinary, dispute resolution, and grievance management.
- Partner with hiring managers on workforce planning and budgeting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Certification: CHRP (K) and valid membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
- Experience: At least 7 years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in a managerial role in a busy organization (preferably healthcare).
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Kenyan labor laws, HR best practices, and organizational development.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience in performance management, talent development, and culture transformation
- Personal Attributes:
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- A committed Christian with values aligned to Tenwek Hospital’s mission
