New Life Home Trust (NLHT) has, for over 30 years, provided a compassionate Christian response to the plight of abandoned and other extremely vulnerable babies. NLHT is committed to 1) RESCUE abandoned and other extremely vulnerable babies; 2) Give high standards of CARE to the children, and 3) PLACE children into loving family situations (through biological family re-integration, foster care, and adoption).
Job Purpose
The HR Specialist is responsible for monitoring all Human Resource functions, reviewing and implementing human resource policies, procedures, and practices that support the mission of NLHT in caring for vulnerable children. The role ensures compliance with Kenyan labor laws, fosters a positive organizational culture, and provides HR support to staff and management in areas such as recruitment, performance management, employee relations & welfare, training and development, compensation and benefits, and HR reporting & analytics.
The incumbent will also ensure updated employee records and manage personal development plans for all staff, and support the line managers in periodic goal setting.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
 
- Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management /CHRP Finalist.
 
- Minimum 5 years' progressive HR experience in HR generalist roles, preferably in NGOs, child-focused organizations, or charitable institutions.
 
- Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM – Kenya) with a valid practicing license.
 
- Knowledge of the Kenya Labour laws and other employee-related laws.
 
Skills and Competence
- High ethical standards, confidentiality, and integrity.
 
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
 
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving.
 
- Organizational and time management skills.
 
- Ability to work with sensitivity in a charitable children's institution.
 
- Team player with cross-cultural adaptability
 
- Ability to prioritize own workload and work with minimal supervision
