Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Leave of Absence Specialist to support employees and clients in managing medical and statutory leaves across multiple states. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while delivering an excellent employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end leave of absence cases, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
  • Guide employees and managers through LOA processes, policies, and documentation.
  • Determine leave eligibility and type, including reviewing medical certifications within defined timelines.
  • Maintain and update leave records in HRIS systems with high accuracy.
  • Provide timely communication to employees throughout the leave lifecycle.
  • Track LOA usage to ensure compliance with allotted leave balances.
  • Coordinate FMLA and state-mandated leaves with relevant stakeholders.
  • Handle inquiries from employees, HR, and managers via phone and email.
  • Support investigations, issue resolution, and escalation handling.
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information.
  • Meet KPIs, service levels, and departmental productivity standards.

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of HR experience (LOA, Benefits, Disability, Workers Compensation, or related areas preferred).
  • Knowledge of employment laws, FMLA, and multi-state leave regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • High level of confidentiality, ethics, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
