Background

SOS Children's Villages International is a vibrant, international organization, committed to the sustainable development of children without parental care, and families at risk. We are a non-governmental child protection organization, working in 136 countries. We are committed to the principle of child-centeredness, and our work is guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Responsibilities

The Humanitarian Action Advisor will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support and guidance on humanitarian action to national associations and regional offices.
  • Developing and implementing humanitarian action strategies and programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with international humanitarian standards and principles.
  • Conducting needs assessments and developing project proposals.
  • Monitoring and evaluating humanitarian projects.
  • Representing SOS Children's Villages in humanitarian coordination meetings.
  • Building the capacity of staff and partners in humanitarian action.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree in International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian action, with a focus on program design, implementation, and M&E.
  • Strong knowledge of international humanitarian law and principles.
  • Experience in working with NGOs and UN agencies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English and French is an asset.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
