Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and operate advanced life-support and monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based critical care practices and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor patient safety indicators, infection prevention measures, and clinical outcomes, and support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources, equipment, and consumables within the ICU.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring effective communication during handovers.
  • Support continuous professional development and contribute to a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate training in Critical Care, Anesthesia, or ICU specialization.
  • Valid registration and practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ clinical experience in an ICU setting.
  • Mandatory valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications.

  • Strong clinical expertise in critical care nursing
  • Excellent clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of ICU protocols, infection prevention, and advanced life support systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, high-acuity environments
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to patient safety
