Job Summary:
The Interior Design Lecturer is responsible for training students in the art and science of enhancing the interiors of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment. The role focuses on design principles, space planning, and practical drafting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Theoretical Teaching: Deliver lectures on design history, color theory, materials, lighting, furniture design, and building codes.
Practical Training: Teach students manual drafting and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max).
Studio Critiques: Organize and lead studio design critiques where students present their portfolios and projects for feedback.
Workshop Safety: Ensure safety protocols are observed in the design studio and carpentry/model-making workshops.
Exhibitions: Organize student design exhibitions and portfolio reviews.
Industry Practice: Introduce students to project management, client handling, and cost estimation related to interior design.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Environmental Design.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a higher learning institution OR 5 years working as a practicing Interior Designer.
- Proficiency in major design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).

- Strong portfolio of personal design work or student work.
- Excellent visualization and creative thinking skills.
- Knowledge of current trends and sustainable design practices.
