Background
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading environmental authority in the United Nations system. It sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the UN system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the Programme Management Unit in various tasks, including but not limited to:
- Assisting in the preparation of programme documents and reports.
- Providing logistical support for meetings and workshops.
- Conducting research on environmental issues and relevant policies.
- Maintaining programme databases and filing systems.
- Supporting communication activities related to UNEP programmes.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a Master's degree or equivalent in environmental science, international relations, public administration, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of environmental issues and sustainable development is an asset.
Experience
No prior work experience is required, but relevant internship or volunteer experience is a plus.
Additional Information
This internship is based in Nairobi, Kenya. The duration of the internship is typically six months.
