Our client, a growing organisation in the manufacturing environment, is seeking a competent, detail-oriented and flexible Inventory Accountant Assistant to support its Finance and Stores functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and financial records, monitoring stock movements, supporting reconciliations and ensuring inventory transactions are correctly captured in SAP.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory and accounting records.
- Monitor stock receipts, issues, transfers and other stock movements.
- Reconcile physical stock against system records and investigate variances.
- Assist with stock counts, inventory reconciliations and reporting.
- Verify inventory documentation and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
- Support preparation of inventory-related financial reports.
- Assist with month-end stock and accounting reconciliations.
- Ensure inventory transactions are accurately captured in SAP.
- Work closely with Stores, Procurement, Production and Finance teams.
- Investigate and report inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain proper documentation for inventory and accounting transactions.
- Perform other accounting and inventory-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 5 years relevant working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- CPA qualification or equivalent accounting qualification is an added advantage.
- Practical experience working with SAP is required.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Good understanding of inventory accounting, stock control and reconciliation.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify, investigate and resolve inventory variances.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What We Are Looking For
This role would suit an accounting professional who is comfortable working at the intersection of Finance, Stores and Inventory and understands that accurate stock records are critical to financial reporting and operational control.
Strong SAP and inventory accounting experience will be particularly important for this position.
