Responsibilities or duties
CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting a full-time Investment Associate / Senior Investment Associate to support our Investment team. As a member of the team, you will contribute to all fundraising, project due diligence and investment, portfolio management and risk mitigation workstreams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Fundraising: Drive group-level senior debt and subordinated debt capital raising materials and processes, including corporate and project finance models, presentations, investment memoranda, term sheet negotiation, and due diligence
- Project finance investments: Assess and structure project investment opportunities, from early-stage leads through to financial close and COD:
- Driving project-level structuring and fundraises for senior debt, subordinated debt, and bridge instruments
- Ensuring projects align with portfolio objectives, return requirements, and risk appetite, and are structured to be bankable for project finance investors
- Project development: Analysis of economics and risks within project development, financial modeling, and project contracts, to support the Project Development team in developing value-accretive projects and investments
- Portfolio and debt facility management: Maintenance of portfolio models and tracking of investment performance metrics and debt covenants, identifying key risks before they arise and proactively proposing and executing mitigants
- Group and project structuring: Portfolio and project-level tax, capital and corporate structuring, to deliver optimal economic outcomes
- Investor management: Preparation of investor updates and engagement materials
- Risk mitigation: Identification and mitigation of investment risks
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Experience needed
- Previous tenure at any of the following (3-6 years):
- An energy, infrastructure or project finance team of top-tier investment or commercial bank
- A specialist financial advisory firm or investor focused on energy / infrastructure M&A or transaction advisory
- Project finance team at a successful energy developer / IPP
- Demonstrated transaction experience in corporate/project finance, financial modelling, due diligence, investment analysis, fundraising, and transaction execution
- Experience in or understanding of African markets, particularly in the energy sector
- Excellent analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to project manage multiple, complex workstreams and interact with broad stakeholder groups
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
