Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development and food security in order to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society. ACDI/VOCA currently has approximately 49 projects in 30 countries and total revenues of $151 million.
ACDI/VOCA is seeking candidates for an Investment and Partnerships Director for an anticipated Feed the Future livestock market systems development project in northern Kenya. The project will enable people, households, and communities to increase their resilience, sustainably moving out of poverty and chronic vulnerability.
The Investment and Partnerships Director will report to the Chief of Party and will be responsible for project activities aimed at analyzing sound investment opportunities and establishing market linkages with the service providers and financial institutions.
Responsibilities
The Investment and Partnerships Director will carry out the following responsibilities:
- Design activities and partnerships that expand and/or rehabilitate market infrastructure across communities in Northern Kenya.
- Identify and shepherd through the investment cycle innovative business plans that increase access to markets and services for pastoralist communities.
- Design partnerships, and identify needed investments, to strengthen backward and forward linkages between pastoralists, service providers, including financial institutions, and end markets.
- Build the capacity of communities to identify priority upgrades that strengthen competitiveness and social safety nets.
- Build awareness of producers, private sector, impact investors and financial service providers of opportunities in Northern Kenya.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in degree in business administration, finance, agronomy or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of practical experience in facilitating investment in agricultural market systems, preferably in the livestock sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of the economic, social, and cultural dynamics of pastoralist production systems in Northern Kenya.
- Demonstrated networks and trust relations with pastoralist communities.
- Demonstrated track record of working with financial service providers, investors, and private sector.
- Demonstrated strong writing and oral presentation skills in English and Swahili.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to maintain the highest ethical standards
