Medical Officers – ICU

REF: TNH/HRD/MO-CU/12/2022

Reporting to the Team Leader - ICU, the successful candidates will be responsible for providing curative, superior interventional, and preventative medical care in the critical care units.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ethically reviewing and instituting appropriate therapeutic interventions for patients admitted to critical care units or requiring critical care across the hospital.
  • Reviewing patients in other units where CCU/HDU support is needed and making appropriate decisions on interventions required.
  • Assisting in coaching and mentoring of nursing staff on various aspects of critical care and management of critical illness.
  • Performing medical procedures expected of a CCU medical officer.
  • Ensuring that high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient care are maintained
  • Preparing medical reports and other clinical documents as required
  • Ensuring professionalism and timeliness in the handling of clients at both individual and departmental levels
  • Participating in continuous medical education and the development of departmental clinical protocols, quality improvement plans, and initiatives
  • Participating in research, clinical audits, and review programs for the department
  • Ensuring consistency in the clinical protocols and provision of care.
  • Ensuring regular and adequate communication with patients and relatives on clinical progress.
  • Advocating for excellent patient care and outcomes.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
  • Valid annual practice license
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support, Advance Trauma Life Support, BASIC, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (added advantage).
  • Sound diagnostic skills and judgment
  • Point of care ultrasonography
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Detailed oriented and good interpersonal relations.
  • Must be well organized and can plan to deal with care issues as they arise.
  • Must be thorough and proactive to ensure quality care and positive outcome.
  • Must be able to work closely with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Prospective candidate should not be in full-time schooling

 

Health and Safety Officer (Re - Advertised)

REF: TNH/HRD/HSO/11/2022

Reporting to the Quality Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and updating the Hospital’s occupational health and safety (QEOSH) Programmes.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and execute OSHAS certification (ISO 45001:2018) for the Hospital and OPCs.
  • Comprehensive hazard identification and assessments for all jobs and activities in the Hospital and OPCs.
  • Specialist job hazard analysis for all jobs/ activities in the hospital and development of safe systems of work to address health and safety issues.
  • Development of a permit system of work for identified high-risk jobs/activities to protect the health and safety of staff, patients, visitors, and other stakeholders.
  • Training of staff in various departments on safe systems of work related to the nature of activities.
  • Ensure that all the facilities are licensed with the necessary regulatory bodies relating to health and safety.
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented. This also includes reporting to regulatory bodies. i.e. DOHSS.
  • Lead in root cause analysis for occupational health and safety incidents
  • Create, hoist OHS standard operating procedures (SOPs) and track review for timely escalation to HODs.
  • Run on weekly and monthly basis OHS q-pulse analysis dashboards for escalation to HODs
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of science degree in occupational health and safety.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in occupational health and safety.
  • Professional certification either by NEMA, DOHSS or NEBOSH.
  • Experience in implementation of health and safety management systems; Kaizen/ 5S, OSHA 2007 and ISO 45001:2018.
  • Quality systems training on QMS, EMS and ISO 45001:2018.
