Pharmaceutical Technologists

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure good store keeping for pharmacy drugs, prepare and manage pharmacy inventory.
  2. Dispense ARVs and OI drugs to patients in the ART program.
  3. Participate in counselling of patients taking ARVs in order to promote adherence with prescribed regimen.
  4. Ensure ADT tool is in use and well maintained (in-charge of the pharmacy computer).
  5. Promote pharmacovigilance activities at the facility, analyze reports as well as forward the reports to PPB/UMB.
  6. Give the ART clinical team updates on the availability of drugs and pharmacovigilance reports and participate in facility CQI and MDT.
  7. Develop, review and regularly update the standard operating procedures manual for administration and distribution of ARVs.
  8. Member of the health facility drugs and therapeutics committee (TDC). Secretary of the Medicine and Therapeutic Committee (MTC) and keeper of the MTC minutes.
  9. Be part of the clinical eligibility committee to set and periodically evaluate annual department goals.
  10. Perform any reasonable work related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Reporting:

  • Prepare site monthly pharmacy reports

 Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technologist from a recognized institution
  • Certified by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • 1-3 years’ work experience in a busy CCC

Medical Laboratory Technologists 

 Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage laboratory equipment in serviceable condition at all times. Keep proper inventory and ensure good stock management for laboratory reagents.
  2. Prepare the laboratory equipment and specimen for tests as necessary.
  3. Ensure quality controls are done for respective procedures, and results properly documented.
  4. Collect patients specimen for laboratory tests and analysis in the prescribed manner, with proper documentation, and ensuring safe handling and disposal of such specimen.
  5. Analyze and record test results accurately and timely in order to issue reports for use by the physician/clinician.
  6. Maintain an accurate database of tests carried out and generate reports on the same.
  7. Develop, review and regularly update the standard operating procedures manual for administration of laboratory tests.
  8. Provide (to the clinical team, and the facility in general) updates on the availability of laboratory tests.
  9. Support waste management in the facility, through regular check on segregation of wastes generated at various service delivery points.
  10. Perform any reasonable work related duties as may be assigned from time to time at the facility.
  11. Provide appropriate education to patients (where necessary) on laboratory investigations.
  12. Spearheads laboratory quality improvement through Implementation of laboratory quality improvement projects.

Reporting:

  • Prepare site monthly Laboratory reports.

 Academic Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science Technology from a recognized institution
  • Certificate of registration from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists & Technicians Board

Professional Qualifications:

  • Registration with Medical Laboratory Technologist and Technicians Board
  • Current Membership/Practicing License from the KMLTTB

Experience: 

  • At least three (3) years’ relevant experience

 Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Ability to prepare and maintain electronic records, keying in reports and responding to both oral and written enquiries
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical and clinic staff and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

HIV Retention Officers

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Examine retention strategies, and adherence support mechanisms and participate in the development of strategies to address findings.
  2. Support facilities to initiate and monitor continuous quality improvement projects for continuity of care, patient retention, and adherence support.
  3. Ensure that the program case management model is implemented with fidelity.
  4. Ensure follow-up and retention of priority clients (new clients, transfer in, return to care, high VL, AGYW, GBV, PBFW, and children.
  5. Supervise and mentor facility adherence officers, peer educators on strategies on continuity of care.
  6. Ensure that a list of daily appointments, missed opportunities are generated and clients followed up to ensure less than 2% missed appointments.
  7. Ensure complete documentation of continuity of care tools (registers, FMATT etc).
  8. Ensure adoption of the Community Strategy implementation for the context of Nairobi County.
  9. Distributes appropriate job aides, tools and educational material for treatment support staff and counselors.
  10. Ensure all facilities are implementing DSD and monitoring clients on facility and community DSD.
  11. Provide daily/weekly/monthly/ quarterly updates to the retention specialist on daily/weekly activities and identify challenges so that they are addressed on time.
  12. Participate in performance monitoring reviews of facility adherence officers.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Diploma in Psychological Counselling, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychological counselling, Social sciences is an added advantage
  • Training in Adherence Counselling
  • Three (3) years’ experience in HIV patient retention at facility level
  • Excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Good report writing skills
  • Good communication skills

Addiction Counsellors

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Meeting with clients to evaluate their health and substance problem.
  2. Identifying issues arising and create goals and treatment plans and re-evaluate the treatment plans periodically.
  3. Provide the clinic with clients’ progress on their treatment plans in the multidisciplinary team meetings.
  4. Liaise with any additional treatment programs in line with the identified issues from the treatment plan and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment programs.
  5. Teaching clients coping mechanisms
  6. Helping clients find jobs or reestablish their career.
  7. Leading group therapy sessions.
  8. Referring clients to existing support groups in the community.
  9. Meeting with family members and provide guidance and support.
  10. Ensure smooth coordination with the referring Civil Society Organizations and participate in MAT linage forums.
  11. Participate in community education and support programs for PWID, as needed
  12. Participate in the dissemination of nationally developed PWID promotional materials and information.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work or any other related course
  2. Specialized training in addiction counseling.
  3. Knowledge in HIV care and treatment
  4. Counselling skills
  5. Addiction counseling skills and People who Inject drugs (PWID) care and management experience is an added advantage.
  6. Comprehensive knowledge of client centered mental health and addictions interventions, practice methods and professional skills.

Human Resource Officer

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Creating, updating, maintaining safe custody and confidentiality of all program and staff records and files during on boarding and on continuous basis
  2. Management of timesheets for payroll processing
  3. Receiving and responding to staff queries on human resource related issues
  4. Support the managing of contract health workers through IHRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) in the county
  5. Support performance management process for the contract health workers
  6. Coordinating staff induction and exit

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or any Social Science
  2. Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management
  3. Be registered with IHRM
  4. 2 years working experience
  5. Must have good interpersonal skills
  6. Must have excellent report writing skills
  7. Computer literate
