STEM Specialist ( Talent Pool job at Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO)

In this role, you will provide on-site support in the project location and/or VSO office, (full-time unless otherwise specified) for a set period of time.

As Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Specialist, you will provide technical support and guidance on inclusive STEM teaching methods informed by global and Cambodian context-specific analysis. You will conduct research to co-design inclusive STEM 21st-century teaching and training packages, coach and mentor to build the capacity of volunteers and government partners to implement STEM teaching methods in 50 targeted secondary resource schools. You will also collaborate with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Regional School Improvement Team, regional school improvement advisors and relevant stakeholders’.

Skills, qualifications and experience
Are you a STEM Specialist who understands Cambodian education systems and policies, focusing on upper secondary education on STEM pedagogy, inclusive education and teacher professional development? If you have a good understanding of international development organisations, specifically volunteering for development, you will be ideal for this role.

Education in Emergencies / Resilience Building Specialist job at Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO)
In this role, you will spend some time providing part-time remote support (e.g. from your home) to VSO projects or partners, and also a set period working full-time in the project location and/or VSO office.

The main purpose of this role is to design and deliver programmes which could enable the capacity of partner and primary actors respond to emergency situations. The project aimed at improving the resilience capacity of pastoralist community in the project location through different innovative interventions.
The volunteer is expected to build the capacity of the education cluster to respond as per the Country Humanitarian and Disaster Resilience Plan (HDRP) so as to ensure the inclusion of Out of School Children (OOSC) in conflict and drought-affected locations of the country. You will be also expected to design and deliver short term teacher training in selected locations of the region on psycho-social skills and Child friendly methodology for teachers from crisis affected areas; empowering teachers and education officers so that they can provide better support to children under the conflict situation to stay in school and achieve better in their education.

Skills, qualifications and experience
•A Bachelor degree in education in emergencies, educational planning and management
•Proven knowledge and experience in projects related to DRR, child-centered and active learning methodologies,
•Good experience in project management, design, teacher training and materials development preferably masters level.
•Demonstrated experience in education at Pre-primary and Primary level;
•Practical understanding of children and teachers’ needs in areas of basic education
•Evidenced skills experiences and qualification in psycho-social skill and child friendly methods

Allowance As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.
Accommodation VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.


Inclusive Education Adviser job at Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO)

Working at project location – In this role, you will provide on-site support in the project location and/or VSO office, (full-time unless otherwise specified) for a set period of time.
The overall job purpose is to provide high-level technical input and support to improve the learning of children with disabilities which enable an improvement in their overall quality of education.
