Role Objective

We are seeking a Junior Accountant on behalf of our client. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day finance and accounting function, ensuring that financial transactions are accurately recorded, properly documented, and processed in line with company policies and statutory requirements.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the processing and recording of invoices, payments, petty cash, and other accounting transactions.
  • Review financial documents to ensure they are complete, accurate, and properly authorized before processing.
  • Support petty cash management, including documentation, reconciliation, and replenishment.
  • Assist with preparation of cash books, bank reconciliations, and other routine accounting schedules.
  • Support the preparation and submission of statutory deductions and other required payments.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records and filing financial documents.
  • Support banking activities, including obtaining bank statements and handling approved banking transactions.
  • Assist with monitoring expenditure, budgets, and cash flow.
  • Prepare basic financial reports and schedules as required by management.
  • Ensure financial records and transactions comply with internal procedures and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Provide general accounting support to the finance team and undertake other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

  • A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in a service-provider environment will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum CPA II or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Good practical understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, cash management, bank reconciliations, and financial record keeping.
