OVERALL PURPOSE
The job holder will be responsible for managing and growing business within Tier 1 and Tier 2 supermarket chains by building strong relationships, driving sales, ensuring product availability, and executing in-store strategies that increase market share and profitability.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage organizational sales by developing a business plan that covers sales, revenue, and marketing expense controls.
- Execute said plan and meet sales goals.
- Set individual sales targets with the merchandising team.
- Oversee the activities and performance of the merchandising team and provide ongoing training of the team.
- Assist in recruiting, objectives setting, coaching, and performance monitoring of sales representatives.
- Develop new avenues of marketing and lead generation.
- Equip the merchandising team through motivation, counseling, and product knowledge education.
- Understand our ideal customers and how they relate to our products.
- Develop and cultivate long-term relationships with prospective consumers and other related industries to help strengthen partnerships.
- Leverage the existing network and expand the company’s product reach and repeat business through relationship building and exceptional customer experience.
- Collaborate with the team to properly coordinate project implementation, and customer service support interface, and proactively address problems/customer issues, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Provide regular feedback to management on market trends, competitive threats, and opportunities to deliver greater value to customers.
- Strategic reporting on all sales activities including sales and prospecting activities, sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A Diploma/Degree in Business Management, Sales & Marketing or a related field from a reputable institution.
- At least 3 years proven experience handling Fast-Moving Consumer Goods in Tier 1 supermarkets, i.e, Naivas, Carrefour, Quickmart etc and Tier 2 i.e, Clean shelf, Powerstar, Skymatt, Kassmatt etc is an added advantage.
- Spoken and written English communication with the highest standards of professionalism is required.
- Proficiency in customer relationship management.
- Must be a fast learner, highly self-motivated, capable of producing high-impact work without supervision, adaptable, and self-confident.
- Creativity to solve problems and develop ideas to improve workflow and efficiency.
- Mental and emotional fortitude to thrive in a fast pace, high-production, performance-driven environment.
- High business acumen with excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex information and adapt it to specific customers.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a high degree of responsiveness, reliability, and integrity.
- Driven with a persuasive, enthusiastic, and client-centric focus.
