Background

The successful candidate will support our vibrant science department. He/she will be the backbone of our practical science experiments managing resources and preparing experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and dismantle apparatus, chemical solutions, and biological materials required for daily practical lessons and examinations across all three sciences.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor, order, and maintain stock levels of chemicals, reagents, live specimens, and physics equipment. Conduct annual audits of laboratory assets.
  • Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Arrange for specialist repairs when necessary.
  • Ensure safe and legal disposal of chemical and biological hazardous waste.
  • Work closely with science teachers to try new experiments, provide technical advice, and occasionally assist students during practical sessions.
  • Guide students on proper laboratory conduct and safety practices when required.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Applied Sciences, Education Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of active experience working as a laboratory technician, preferably in an educational or research institution.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle overlapping requests from different science disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teaching staff and students.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
