Instructor, Critical Care

Responsibilities

The Critical Care Instructor will:

  • Assess and manage patients
  • Assist in the initial assessment and triage, in person, by phone or by other available electronic means, of potential critical care patients outside the critical care units.
  • Participate in the review and development of appropriate policies and procedures for patients’ health care to formulate best practice guidelines.
  • Participate in departmental research and academic activities, institutional quality improvement and patient safety activities.

Requirements

  • Must have Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(M.B.Ch.B) or equivalent
  • Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine or Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine or successful completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Anesthesia or Emergency Medicine
  • Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (BLS & ACLS)
  • Demonstrates competency and dexterity with all equipment utilized in the hospital environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and electronic medical record knowledge is an added advantage.

Team Leader, Purchasing & Supply Chain Management

Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Manager OPEX, Purchasing and Supplies Management Division (PSCMD), the Team Leader, will be responsible for directing and supervising a team that includes a buyer and stock controller to facilitate the supply chain process to achieve the needs of the respective user departments as well as achieving the PSCMD and Institutional goals and objectives and any other related activities as assigned by the Manager and/or designate.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability of stock items by maintaining timely purchases of locally available/Imported stock and non-stock
  • Savings by negotiations for better pricing, initiating Global and Regional Supplies Contracts, and sourcing for alternate suppliers.
  • Ensure product substitution where possible.
  • Increase customer satisfaction by understanding user expectations and creating a plan to enhance expectations
  • Hold regular meetings with users to understand their needs and projections
  • Monitor short expiry items as per the expiry policy
  • Perform random stock counts, correct verification at receipt of items, accurate issuance to users to ensure minimal losses to the organization.
  • Monitor stock holding on regular basis; manage imports and ensure optimal stock holding
  • Scheduled deliveries and be innovative due to space constraint
  • Conduct supplier evaluations as per policy
  • Ensure timely daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Perform staff performance appraisal, half-yearly and yearly

Qualifications and skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement and supply chain or relevant field
  • CIPS, CILT or KISM Higher Diploma will give an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a purchasing and/or warehouse function in a healthcare setting is preferred
  • KISM membership and KISM licence are mandatory requirements.

Job Summary

The Senior House Officer, Department of Surgery assist with admissions, consultations, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of hospital patients.

Responsibilities

  • Review and examine patients consistently by performing such duties as taking case histories, conducting physical examinations and ordering diagnostic laboratory & radiology studies
  • Assist in the examination and observation of emergency cases
  • Attending Operating Theatres with surgeons, Instructors and senior Residents
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection
  • Initiate timely discussions with relevant consultants/departments to arrive at the best treatment plan for specialized cases

  • Punctuality and sound time-management skills
