Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the Learning Support Department.
  • Develop and implement the school's Inclusion and Learning Support strategy.
  • Supervise, mentor, and appraise Learning Support Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
  • Develop departmental policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Coordinate screening, identification, assessment, and placement of learners requiring support.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assist teachers in developing differentiated lesson plans and assessments
  • Ensure appropriate accommodations and curriculum modifications are implemented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Needs Education, Inclusive Education, or a closely related education field.
  • Registered teacher with the relevant professional body (Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Kenya).
  • Minimum five (5) years of successful experience in Special Needs or Inclusive Education.
  • Minimum two (2) years in a leadership or coordination role within a learning support department
