Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;
  • Develop course materials and instructional resources;
  • Conduct research and publish scholarly work;
  • Participate in curriculum development and review;
  • Set, administer, and mark examinations;
  • Advise and mentor students;
  • Participate in departmental, School, and University activities;
  • Engage in community service and church-related outreach programmes;
  • Supervise students’ research projects where applicable;
  • Participate in academic advising, student mentorship, and spiritual nurture activities;
  • Support the mission and objectives of the Department and the University;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or University Management.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:
  • PhD in Old Testament Studies;
  • PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;
  • PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field;
  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;
  • KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;
  • Minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience at tertiary level;
  • Evidence of scholarly research and publications in the relevant field;
  • Meets the University requirements for appointment to the rank of Lecturer;
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;
  • Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will be an added advantage;
  • Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Adventist education, mission, and values;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, teaching, and mentoring skills;
  • Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software will be an added advantage.
