Background

The Koitaleel Samoei University College (KSUC) was formed through a Legal Notice as a College of the University of Nairobi. In the mirror image of the mentoring university, KSUC will have 7 campuses, one in each sub-county of the Nandi County, and a Teaching Hospital.

Duties and responsibilities

Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels;

Undertaking research and produce publications or other research outputs;

Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research;

Participating in curriculum development and review;

Examination preparation, administration and assessment;

Participating in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities;

Developing learning materials including modules;

Undertaking community outreach activities;

Participating in the development and review of academic programmes;

Guiding, mentoring and counselling students;

Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from a recognized University;

OR; A Master Degree qualification (plus a PhD registration) in the relevant field from a recognized University (in special cases) with at least (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research or industry in relevant area;

Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable);

A minimum of eight (8) publication points from peer-reviewed journals with; Minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2) scholarly published teaching modules or two (2) peer reviewed working/ occasional/ discussion papers;

Must show evidence of community service;

Proficiency in computer applications;

Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
