Job Purpose
To support the academic growth and delivery of SCET programs through high-quality teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and active participation in departmental research and innovation activities across the diploma, certificate, and undergraduate levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning
- Deliver courses in areas such as Programming, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Databases, Software Engineering, and related computing fields.
- Facilitate active, participatory, and practical learning across programmes in the school and university.
- Prepare course outlines, lecture notes, assessments, and grade submissions in accordance with university policies.
- Curriculum Development and Review
- Participate in ongoing curriculum design and review processes to ensure SCET and university programs are relevant and responsive to emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Integrate hands-on projects and problem-based learning in line with the CBC model and practical training priorities.
- Research, Innovation and Mentorship
- Engage in applied research, publications, and innovation projects aligned with university and school mandate.
- Supervise undergraduate student projects and provide academic mentorship to students.
- Institutional and Departmental Service
- Contribute to the planning and execution of university and school activities such as seminars, hackathons, bootcamps, and outreach programmes.
- Serve in school or university committees as assigned.
- Integrate university values in the curriculum development
Qualifications and Requirements
- PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial
- Intelligence, or a closely related field from a recognised university is preferred OR
- A Master’s degree in the same fields may be considered, provided they demonstrate substantial teaching experience and ongoing professional engagement in their discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of university-level teaching experience, including demonstrable use of Learning Management Systems such as MS Teams, Moodle, or Google Classroom.
- Evidence of active research, academic publications, or ongoing doctoral studies will be an added advantage in line with CUE’s academic staff progression criteria.
- Strong industry grounding or professional certifications in one or more of the following areas will be a distinct advantage: o Programming (e.g., Java, Python, C#)
- Networking (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+) o Cybersecurity (e.g., CEH, CompTIA Security+)
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (e.g., TensorFlow, AWS, IBM, or equivalent)
- Proven ability to integrate practical, project-based learning and mentor students in real-world application of skills.
- A strong commitment to academic excellence, personal integrity, and Christcentred teaching and mentorship, in alignment with the values of Africa International University.

- Capacity to mentor diverse learners.
- A team-oriented and flexible approach to teaching and collaboration.
- Ability to link theory to practice in applied computing fields.
