Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)
This is a three (3) month engagement with a possibility of extension.
Responsibilities or duties
- Assist in tracking progress of IJM legal program milestones and key performance indicators.
- Assist in tracking and measuring developments in law, policy and procedure that impact the IJM Kenya program interventions.
- Assist in conducting legal research on public justice system and identify emerging needs and trends that require policy intervention to ensure that the poor are protected from violence.
- Assist in conducting case file reviews to identify casework gaps and other significant trends warranting attention.
- Assist in analyzing government and partners data to identify policy gaps and develop policy responses.
- Assist with preparing legal opinions, memos and briefs on legislative changes and their impact on the public justice system for use in lobbying for key legal and policy reforms.
- Assist with planning, organizing and facilitating advocacy campaigns, case conferences, meetings with partners, workshops and training.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- A bachelor’s degree in law
- Training, certification or passion in data, statistics or a program related field
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft office.
- Ability to multi-task and follow-up of tasks to completion, good planning & organizing.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and work as part of a team.
- Demonstrated desire in data driven interventions
- Demonstrated abilities in legal drafting and research
Experience needed
- Experience in legal data analysis is a bonus
