Responsibilities or duties

Legal Research & Regulatory Monitoring

  • Conduct legal and regulatory research on legislation, regulations, policies, legal notices, standards, and public participation matters affecting manufacturers.
  • Monitor national and county legislative and regulatory developments relevant to KAM members.
  • Prepare preliminary summaries, issue notes, and regulatory updates for departmental review.

Policy, Advocacy & Compliance Support

  • Draft memoranda, position papers, issue matrices, correspondence, and consultation notes for departmental review.
  • Compile member feedback on legal and regulatory issues for advocacy engagements.
  • Track compliance obligations, regulatory timelines, and action points arising from stakeholder engagements.

Documentation & Secretariat Support

  • Prepare briefs, matrices, summaries, minutes, memoranda, and correspondence.
  • Provide logistical and secretariat support for meetings, public participation forums, consultations, and engagements with regulators and government agencies.
  • Draft minutes, attendance records, meeting briefs, and action trackers.

Contract Review & Records Management

  • Support preliminary review of contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, and related legal documents for completeness, formatting, and attachments.
  • Maintain and update the contract tracker, including status, timelines, responsible officers, renewal periods, expiry dates, and pending actions.
  • Organize contract records, file executed agreements, follow up on outstanding inputs, and escalate contracts requiring review, approval, renewal, or closure.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of the Kenya School of Law programme (awaiting admission to the Bar) or recent admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Experience needed

  • Prior internship or attachment experience in a legal, regulatory, policy, or corporate environment is an added advantage.
