Role Objective
Our client, a reputable boutique law firm based in Nairobi, is looking to recruit a skilled and motivated Litigation Advocate to strengthen its dispute resolution practice. This role is ideal for an advocate who is passionate about litigation, thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, and is committed to delivering exceptional legal services to clients.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Appear before courts and tribunals to represent clients during hearings, mentions, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Draft, review, and lodge pleadings, affidavits, applications, submissions, and other court documents.
- Undertake comprehensive legal research and interpret statutes, regulations, and judicial decisions.
- Prepare legal opinions, commercial agreements, settlement documents, and official correspondence.
- Offer timely legal guidance and practical solutions to clients on a variety of legal matters.
- Prepare witnesses for court appearances and conduct examinations and cross-examinations where applicable.
- Oversee litigation workflows, ensuring compliance with court timelines and procedural requirements.
- Engage with opposing counsel in negotiations aimed at resolving disputes efficiently.
- Conduct legal due diligence and evaluate documentation relevant to ongoing litigation matters.
- Provide clients with regular updates on the progress and status of their cases.
- Work closely with colleagues on complex legal disputes and firm-wide assignments.
- Support the achievement of departmental targets and contribute to the firm's strategic objectives.
- Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the Partners or Management.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- One 2 years Post admission experience in a busy law firm.
- An upper 2nd Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
- A valid practicing certificate.
