Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Livestock Manager to oversee the overall management, health, productivity and welfare of livestock on a farm located in Uasin Gishu. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in animal health management, artificial insemination (AI) and good farm reports, with a hands-on approach to livestock production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily livestock operations including feeding, breeding, housing and general husbandry.
  • Implement and manage animal health programs, including disease prevention, vaccination schedules and treatment plans.
  • Perform and supervise Artificial Insemination (AI) programs to improve herd genetics and productivity.
  • Monitor livestock performance indicators such as growth rates, milk production, fertility and mortality rates.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date livestock records including breeding records, health treatments and production data.
  • Prepare and submit regular farm reports detailing herd performance, health status and operational challenges.
  • Work closely with veterinarians and animal health specialists to ensure optimal herd health.
  • Train and supervise farm workers on proper livestock handling and welfare practices.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Animal Science, Animal Health or related field.
  • Proven experience in livestock management on a large farm.
  • Strong practical experience in animal health management and disease control.
  • Hands-on experience with Artificial Insemination (AI).
  • Strong reporting and record-keeping skills (computer literacy is an added advantage).
