Mhasibu SACCO whose name means 'accountant’ in Swahili currently serves members engaged in the accounting profession to include inter alia: qualified accountants yet to be members of ICPAK, students of KASNEB & ACCA, employees of institutions that offer training in accounts as well as the spouses and children of existing members.
Job Purpose
Ensure loans are repaid as per the loan agreement using efficient, effective and fair debt recovery procedures, maintaining Portfolio at Risk below 5% and minimising bad-debt losses.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow up on non-performing loans through calls, emails and text messages.
- Manage direct debits: extract from loan forms, process and submit to banks, reconcile monthly, follow up and report.
- Manage check-off: send check-off advice and clearance letters to members and employers, follow up and report.
- Communicate and issue default notices as per policy.
- Attend to member inquiries relating to their accounts.
- Refund guarantors where defaulters have made payments.
- Process invoices from debt collectors and other recovery service providers.
- Prepare periodic reports on delinquent loans and accounts.
- Verify member information, documents and bank statements during loan assessment.
- Enforce the tier system on deposit contributions and handle guarantor substitution per policy.
- Any other lawful duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Credit Administration, Co-operative Management or a related field.
- CPA Finalist or Certified Credit Professional (CCP).
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in credit management, in a similar position.
- Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

- Negotiation, persuasion and strong business communication skills.
- Credit monitoring, portfolio management and risk awareness.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and word-processing skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving and records-management skills.
- High integrity, emotional intelligence and good interpersonal skills.
