Job Purpose:
The overall purpose of this job is to perform technological duties associated with echocardiography (Echo) scans, providing doctors with information regarding cardiovascular diseases, illnesses and disorders.
Responsibilities or duties
- Performing in all types of Echocardiograms, 24 hr Holter monitor both in and out patients.
- Write Echocardiogram reports, to be countersigned by the cardiologist
- Assist Cardiologists in performing Trans-Oesophageal Echo (TEE)
- Analyse and report on Holter monitor recordings for the Physician to review.
- Ensure timely dispatch of Echo and Holter Monitor reports to patients or referring Physicians
- Collaborate with Biomedical Engineers to ensure prompt maintenance of Equipment
- Maintain accurate records of tests carried out by ensuring correct data entry on computer, report forms as well as batch registers
- Develop the echocardiographic film and provide the diagnostic exam of the patients to the cardiologist for interpretation; Conduct initial review of images and exam results for provisional prognosis
- Perform and document quality control procedures to ensure that the ECHO equipment operates at optimal level; Report equipment malfunctions to Head of Department for maintenance and repair
Qualifications or requirements
Education
- Diploma in Cardiology Technologist from a recognized training institution
- Certification by appropriate Radiology council of Kenya
Experience needed
- Minimum of 6(months) ECHO cardiography experience preferably in a hospital environment

- Knowledge of radiation safety
- Knowledge of quality management system related to radiology
- Patient care skills
