St Andrew’s School, Turi is highly respected in Kenya and regarded as one of the leading international schools in East Africa. Numbering 550 pupils, it comprises two semi-autonomous schools: a Preparatory School of circa 220 pupils between the ages of 3 and 13 and a Senior School of circa 330 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day nursing care to students and staff.
  • Assess and manage minor illnesses and injuries.
  • Provide first aid and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Administer medications in accordance with school policies and professional guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
  • Monitor students with ongoing medical needs and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Support medical cover during school activities and sports when required.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, staff and healthcare providers.
  • Arrange and support referrals to hospitals or other healthcare facilities when necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention, cleanliness and safety within the Medical Centre.
  • Work closely with the Head of Medical Centre and other members of the Medical Centre team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a valid practicing license.
  • Relevant nursing qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working with children or in a school/paediatric setting is preferred.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • A caring, responsible and professional approach to student wellbeing.
