Purpose of Role:

Prepare, dispense, and manage pharmaceutical products; provide patient counselling in line with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispense medications and monitor patient health outcomes
  • Provide accurate drug information on medication use and side effects
  • Receive and accurately process prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients
  • Prepare, constitute, and label extemporaneous preparations as required
  • Maintain pharmacy operational records, including controlled drugs and inventory control
  • Participate in stock takes and inventory management exercises
  • Participate in ward rounds and patient education activities
  • Counsel patients on medication use and adherence

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution
  • Must be enrolled/registered as a pharmaceutical technologist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Valid practicing licence from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
