Job Purpose

The Logistics and Materials Supervisor is responsible for coordinating logistics and materials management activities to ensure the safe, timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement, storage, and delivery of materials and equipment to operational sites. The role oversees logistics contractors, customs clearance, cargo tracking, and material yard operations while ensuring compliance with company standards and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transportation and logistics activities considering local infrastructure constraints including roads, bridges, cranes, ports, and transport capacities.
  • Ensure compliance with customs, import/export, permit, and regulatory requirements for all shipments.
  • Analyse required delivery dates and recommend the most economical and efficient shipping methods based on supplier availability and operational requirements.
  • Act as the focal point for freight forwarders, customs agents, transport providers, and internal stakeholders regarding cargo movement and shipment tracking.
  • Supervise material yard operations including receipt, inspection, storage, preservation, inventory control, and dispatch of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure proper material handling, stock accuracy, housekeeping, and compliance with HSE requirements within the material yard.
  • Coordinate consolidation and staging of project materials prior to final shipment to operational locations.
  • Monitor logistics contractors to ensure compliance with company EHS standards, including vehicle inspection and journey management requirements.
  • Ensure Local Content requirements are achieved within logistics operations and contracts.
  • Support rig moves, personnel transportation, and other operational logistics activities as required.
  • Review and update logistics procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in logistics, materials management, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations, preferably within the oil & gas, energy, mining, or large infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience managing logistics contracts and third-party logistics providers.
  • Strong understanding of customs clearance processes, import/export regulations, and international freight operations.
  • Experience operating in remote or challenging operational environments is desirable
