Job Summary
Tetra Pak, is looking for a bright and motivated person for the position of Maintenance Engineer, within our PS Material Supply EMEA team. The successful candidate will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report to the Maintenance Manager.
What you will do
Automation Systems Support
- Modify & Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and HMI automation systems for industrial equipment and processes.
- Develop, test, and debug automation software programs with machine OEM’s.
- Create/Modify electrical drawings, control panel schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Equipment Installation & Commissioning
- Install, configure, and commission automation and electrical systems.
- Perform system testing, FAT/SAT, and validation of automation equipment.
- Integrate sensors, actuators, drives, and instrumentation into control systems.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and fix faults in PLCs, sensors, drives (VFD/Servo), and electrical equipment.
- Provide technical support to maintenance teams for automation-related issues.
- Monitor system performance and conduct predictive/preventive maintenance.
Process Optimization
- Analyze production processes and recommend automation improvements.
- Implement energy‑saving and efficiency enhancement initiatives.
- Introduce Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT, data acquisition, and predictive analytics when needed.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare technical documents (SOPs, manuals, reports).
- Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards (IEC, NEC, OSHA).
- Maintain updated control logic backups, change logs, and system documentation.
We believe you have
- 02-05 years of experience in a similar role.
- Bachelors degree education in electrical or electronics engineering.
Core Technical Skills
- PLC Programming: Siemens
- HMI/SCADA: WinCC
- Drives & Motion Control: VFDs(AC & DC), servo systems
- Industrial Communication: Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus
- Instrumentation: Sensors, transmitters, actuators.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Good communication and teamwork
- Ability to work under pressure in production environments
