Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for farming, manufacturing, and distribution operations.
  • Develop product-level profitability analysis (SKU-level margin analysis for fresh, processed, and export lines).
  • Support pricing decisions through cost build-ups and sensitivity analysis (feed cost volatility, FX impact on imports, fuel cost movements).
  • Produce monthly management accounts with variance analysis (volume, yield, wastage, overhead absorption).
  • Maintain standard costing models for livestock rearing, slaughtering, processing, and packaging.
  • Monitor production yields, carcass recovery rates, wastage, and by-product revenue streams.
  • Analyze feed cost per kg of livestock growth and its impact on overall cost of sales.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and cold storage.
  • Work closely with plant managers to understand operational inefficiencies and cost leakage.
  • Monitor stock movements across farms, plants, cold rooms, and distribution depots.
  • Reconcile physical stock counts with system records and investigate variances.
  • Track inventory holding days and reduce working capital tied up in stock.
  • Provide financial modelling support for capital expenditure (new processing lines, cold rooms, fleet expansion).
  • Support export costing models including duty, logistics, and compliance costs.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives with procurement and operations teams.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and reporting timelines.
  • Support external and internal audits with relevant documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent qualification (fully qualified preferred).
  • Membership in ICPAK or relevant professional body.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience within a similar industry or big 4 professional services firm.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong cost accounting in a manufacturing/FMCG environment.
  • Deep understanding of standard costing and variance analysis.
  • Financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • ERP proficiency (SAP, Oracle, or similar manufacturing systems).
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis capability.
  • Understanding of supply chain finance and working capital optimization.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Commercial mindset with strong analytical thinking.
  • Comfortable engaging plant managers and operational leaders.
  • High attention to detail and financial discipline.
