Job Purpose:
The Manager will lead agribusiness division, driving the bank’s mission to empower sustainable agricultural development across Kenya. This role involves overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes smallholder farmers, dairy cooperatives, Agri-SMEs, and climate-smart agriculture initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for strategic leadership, product innovation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement to enhance the bank’s impact in the agricultural sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the bank’s agribusiness strategy, aligning with corporate goals and market dynamics.
Portfolio Management: Oversee a diverse agribusiness portfolio, including dairy, horticulture, livestock, and renewable energy for agriculture.
Sustainable Financing: Lead initiatives to provide affordable credit to agribusinesses, focusing on climate resilience and eco-friendly practices.
Partnership Development: Forge and maintain strategic partnerships with development organizations,
government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
Product Innovation: Spearhead the development of tailored financial products that address the unique needs of agribusinesses.
Risk Management: Implement robust risk assessment frameworks to ensure portfolio quality and compliance with environmental and social standards.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing agribusiness team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, policy changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Finance, or a related field.
A master’s degree is an added advantage.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years in banking or financial services, with at least 5 years in agribusiness financing or related sectors.
Sector Expertise: Deep understanding of agricultural value chains, climate-smart agriculture, and rural finance.
Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading teams and managing cross-functional projects.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Key Competencies:
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that drive growth and impact.
Financial Acumen: Expertise in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and portfolio management.
Innovation: Capacity to introduce innovative solutions that address sector challenges.
Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
Adaptability: Ability to navigate and lead in a dynamic and evolving agricultural landscape.
