Job Summary
The Marina Manager will have overall responsibility for the oversight of all marine operations, engineering plant, and facilities.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
- Ensures safe and efficient operation of the vessel including safe navigation and piloting of the vessel
- Ensures all marine operations are in accordance with project requirements and all safety regulations are followed
- Ensures continued compliance with all regulatory bodies, classification societies, and other key organizations
- Determines parts, supplies, budget, and material required for department
- Supervises engineering and marine subordinates
- Oversees inputs of operation and maintenance data and records long range maintenance schedules
- Conducts on the job training of subordinate personnel as required
- Ensures all required logs and records are accurately maintained
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of USCG/DOT rules and regulations
- Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on an ocean going towing vessel
- Knowledge of methods and procedures in the operation of a marina
- Knowledge of local laws and ordinances pertaining to docks and harbors
- Knowledge of the methods, tools and materials used in marine work
- Knowledge of tidal characteristics and how to handle shore front activities
- Knowledge of waterfront first aid
Experience & Education
- Five (5) years’ experience working as a Manager in the marine industry with experience in managing vessel and harbor operations
- Five (5) years’ vessel operations management or equivalent USCG or US Army Training and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marine or engineering related field; or a combination of ten plus (10+) years of marina/fleet management experience or senior marina/fleet operations experience preferred
- Proven management experience of personnel in an operations position
- Must maintain a USCG Third Assistant Engineer License or USCG 1600 Ton Oceans Masters License or US Army 880A2 or 881A2
- Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment
