Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Develop of the national oil spill response contingency plan for coastal and inland waterways
  • Assist in the Review and update of the national oil spill response contingency plan for coastal and inland waters
  • Assist in the Implementation of the national oil spill response contingency plan for coastal and inland waters
  • Assist in the Implement strategies for monitoring and preventing oil spills in the coastal and inland waters
  • Co-operate with relevant stakeholders in the protection of marine environment from shipping activities
  • Assist in the Conduct of pollution prevention inspections of Kenyan ports and navigable waterways
  • Assist in conducting public awareness campaigns on prevention of ship source pollution.
  • Assist in the Implementation of International Conventions and other instruments relating to marine pollution response and coordination

Qualifications & Skills

ACADEMIC

  • Certificate of Competency – Marine Engineer Officer (STCW)
  • Certificate of Competency – Deck Officer (STCW)
  • Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree Marine Engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree Marine Environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree Nautical Science
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies
