Department: Supply chain and Logistic Department

Reports To: Fleet Supervisor

Job Purpose

To carry out inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of company vehicles and equipment while ensuring compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards to promote safe and efficient operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Repair and replace faulty vehicle parts and components.
  • Carry out engine, brake, suspension, transmission, and electrical repairs.
  • Ensure all vehicles are serviced as per maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergencies.
  • Maintain proper maintenance records and repair reports.
  • Test vehicles after repair to confirm proper functionality.
  • Ensure tools and workshop equipment are properly maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and participates in safety meetings when required.
  • Properly use PPE and ensure safe handling of tools, oils, fuel, batteries, and hazardous materials.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste oil, filters, batteries, and other hazardous waste in line with environmental requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workshop area.
  • Report major defects and recurring mechanical issues to management.
  • Monitor spare parts usage and advise on required replacements.
  • Any other related duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a mechanic.
  • Valid driving license with 5 years’ experience.
  • Experience handling trucks, generators, or fleet vehicles
  • Basic understanding of HSE requirements and safe workshop practices.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle systems and repairs.
  • Understanding of workplace safety procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • High level of integrity and accountability.
  • Safety conscious and detail oriented.
