Responsibilities or duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and supervision of mechanical engineering projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements. The role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Design, develop, and review mechanical systems and equipment for various engineering projects.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) regulations and applicable engineering standards.
  • Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to graduate and junior engineers.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure project implementation meets design specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Review contractor submissions, technical proposals, and project documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards during project execution.
  • Participate in project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Experience needed

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical engineering design, installation, or project supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination.
