About the Role

Maji Hill Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer based in Mombasa to conduct site assessments and provide technical oversight for wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), effluent treatment plants (ETP), and related mechanical systems.

The role involves evaluating plant performance, diagnosing mechanical issues, recommending corrective measures, and supporting operational optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mechanical and operational assessments of wastewater and effluent treatment plants.
  • Inspect pumps, blowers, compressors, dosing systems, filter presses, and sludge handling equipment.
  • Review plant log sheets and operational data.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failure and process inefficiencies.
  • Recommend preventive and corrective maintenance actions.
  • Prepare detailed technical assessment reports.
  • Provide on-site technical guidance to plant operators.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in wastewater or industrial effluent treatment systems.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Pumps and piping systems
    • Chemical dosing systems
    • Sludge dewatering equipment
    • Aeration and blower systems
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and report writing skills.
  • Must be based in Mombasa and available for immediate engagement.
