We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, maintaining quality standards, and providing accurate and timely diagnostic results to support patient care and clinical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and accurately record patient specimens.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timely reporting of laboratory test results.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality assurance and quality control protocols.
  • Maintain proper documentation of laboratory activities, test results, and inventory records.
  • Observe infection prevention and control measures, laboratory safety standards, and waste management procedures.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Participate in laboratory audits, accreditation activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with all applicable professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and practicing license from the relevant professional regulatory body.
  • Relevant experience in a clinical, hospital, or diagnostic laboratory.
  • Proficiency in laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and the operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in accredited laboratories or health programmes.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Training in quality management systems, biosafety, and infection prevention and control will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with molecular diagnostics or specialized laboratory techniques will be an added advantage.
