Role Summary
The Medical Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered medical care at the medical center while upholding the highest clinical, ethical, and professional standards. This role works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care, while also supporting quality improvement initiatives and mentoring junior clinical staff. Success in this role means excellent patient outcomes, high satisfaction, and consistent adherence to clinical and ethical standards.
Responsibilities or duties
- Provide comprehensive medical evaluations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, prescribe appropriate treatments, and monitor patient progress to ensure high-quality care.
- Offer counseling, health education, and clear communication to patients and families, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate medical records, comply with legal and ethical standards, and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in clinical audits, implement best practices, engage in continuous medical education, and support service utilization in line with medical center standards.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and support to junior medical staff, contribute to interdisciplinary learning, and promote teamwork within the medical center.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- An MBChB degree from a recognized medical school.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB).
- Strong clinical knowledge and diagnostic skills across a wide range of conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Experience needed
- At least 2 years’ experience in an outpatient clinical setting.
