Responsibilities or duties
- Undertaking general and specialized diagnosis, care, treatment, and management of patients using radiological services, including x-ray, ultrasound, ct scan, mri, and other imaging modalities;
- Interpreting medical images and providing diagnostic reports to guide clinical decision-making;
- Performing specialized radiological procedures, including interventional radiology where applicable;
- Providing psycho-social interventions and counselling to patients and their families regarding diagnostic and interventional procedures;
- Providing clinical radiology services in radiology departments, imaging centres, and other health facilities;
- Training, consulting, and mentoring medical officers, radiographers, and other health personnel in radiology, including carrying out forensic and medico-legal services where applicable;
- Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention, and control through diagnostic imaging;
- Coordinating health education and promotion activities related to imaging and diagnostic services;
- Implementing radiology-related health projects and programmes;
- Maintaining up-to-date radiology information systems and databases;
- Monitoring the provision of radiological services to ensure accuracy, safety, and quality;
- Undertaking clinical audits, research, and analysis of radiology reports;
- Analysing medical and imaging reports to support planning and decision-making.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Experience needed
- Possesses a minimum of three (3) years’ experience serving in a comparable position within the public or private sector.
- Master’s degree in radiology or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the medical practitioners and dentists board;
- Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (mbchb) degree from an institution recognized by the medical practitioners and dentists board (mpdb);
- Certificate of registration by the medical practitioners and dentists board;
- Valid practicing licence from the medical practitioners and dentists board;
- Certificate in strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
- Demonstrated professional competence and professional capability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical medical practice.
- Satisfy the requirement of chapter six of the constitution of kenya
