Responsibilities or duties

The Supermarket Merchandiser will be responsible for collecting light household items from the warehouse, delivering them to assigned supermarket branches, merchandising the products on shelves, and ensuring displays are clean, well-arranged, and fully stocked. The role also involves building good relationships with supermarket managers, promoting products, and communicating orders and stock needs.

  • Collect light household products from the warehouse and deliver them to assigned supermarket branches.
  • Arrange products neatly on shelves according to company merchandising standards.
  • Ensure all products are clean, well-labelled, and attractively displayed at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels on shelves and identify fast-moving items.
  • Liaise with supermarket branch managers and supervisors to receive new orders.
  • Actively push and promote products to increase shelf visibility and sales.
  • Ensure correct product rotation (FIFO) and remove damaged or expired items if applicable.
  • Maintain good working relationships with supermarket staff.
  • Provide regular feedback on customer preferences, competitor activity, and market trends.
  • Ensure timely reporting of deliveries, orders, and merchandising activities.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in merchandising, sales, or a similar retail distribution role.
  • Experience working with supermarkets or retail chains is an added advantage.
  • Basic understanding of merchandising principles and stock management.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to push products and influence purchasing decisions.
  • Organized, neat, and detail-oriented.
  • Physically fit and able to handle light household items.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Honest, reliable, and time-conscious.
  • Presentable and professional demeanour.
  • Customer-focused and proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to travel between warehouse and different supermarket branches.
